On December 17th, 2015 I received my first admission decision from a university I vividly pictured myself living and learning in. They didn’t want me. Rejection hurts bad as a seventeen year old and still does two years later at the age of nineteen. Admittedly, I sobbed a little that night scared that I wouldn’t be anywhere in the Fall of 2016. A day later I saw the highly anticipated Force Awakens with around 15 people. For about 2 hours my anxieties and worries of the real world disappeared. I left the theater elated but still scared of the future. Later on I applied to several other schools and hoped for the best. That frightened 12th grader to the left is me.

I’m not going to do a shot by shot analysis like I did The Last Jedi’s official teaser because this full length trailer has way too much going on — in a good way. I will, however, share my thoughts on how the story of Episode VIII may unfold based on some observations I’ve made.

Thanks to a man who accidently stumbled on the other side of the world 500 plus years ago, I’ve got a 4-day weekend! And in this 4-day weekend I plan to do a couple things: 1) catch up on some blogging and blog myself 2) do some work (not really) and 3) watch freaking Blade Runner 2049!

I am a huge Nolan fan so I am a little sad to say that I didn’t get to watch Dunkirk in IMAX or glorious 70mm. In fact I’ve never seen a Nolan film in anything but a standard 35mm movie theatre. The experience, of course, is not as great but at the end of the day I’m still a subject to his unique stories.
Dunkirk, Nolan’s first film based off a historical event, follows the evacuation of 300 000 British, French, Belgian and Dutch soldiers from the beaches of Dunkirk during WWII. While it isn’t mind boggling or a sci-fi epic, Dunkirk has Nolan sprinkled all over it, from its non-linear storytelling all the way to the colour palette. So, does that mean it’s any good?

Finally, FINALLY I got to see Spiderman: Homecoming tonight a little after a week since its release. This film looked extremely promising based on the teasers, trailers, dedication and deep care the cast showed for this project, especially Tom Holland (Peter Parker/Spiderman) and it really didn’t disappoint. Maybe it’s a little premature to say this but Spiderman: Homecoming may just be my favorite spidey film to date.

First the Game of Thrones series recap and now this?! I was already so, so, sooo excited for The Last Jedi even though it’s basically releasing a half a year from now. Currently my hype for this film has reached light speed after the Star Wars’ official youtube channel released a behind the scenes look at the 9th film in the epic saga. So here it is, the BHS look at Star Wars Episode VIII along with my reaction!

Spoiler Warning: Do not watch this trailer if you are not caught up with the latest season of Game of Thrones
Before a new season of Game of Thrones comes out I always promise myself that I’ll re-watch the entire series. I usually fail after being intimidated by the show’s (nearly) 60 hour runtime. I tried again in June and ultimately failed again. Thankfully the official Game of Thrones youtube channel released a 5 minute video that encapsulates all major storylines and plot points of the past six seasons. It’s been a year since we’ve last visited the world of Westeros and this series trailer, although short, serves as a great way to summarize the many and long character arcs of the epic show.
Excited for the penultimate season 7? Let me know in the comments below!
Out of all the projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the Thor films had to be my least favorite. They are most likely everyone’s least favorite. By the looks of this trailer, Thor: Ragnarok will not only be my favorite Thor film but most likely my favorite film of the MCU. It probably will be yours too…..

2016 is over, finally, and although the year was universally crummy it did produce some outstanding television. Film and TV, as frequent viewers here may know, is a form of escapism for me. A way to leave whatever troubles me in the real world and get lost in some fictitious ones. This year there were a couple of shows, both new and returning, that I would return to week after week, or day after day if they were on Netflix, to get my dose of immersion. Going in fresh into 2017 I wanted to reflect on these shows and write about what I loved so much about them. So here are my favorite shows of 2016 (unranked)!
